Brittany E. Brinegar has always been curious.

 

The kind of curious that makes it difficult to simply watch a mystery without trying to solve it. The kind that turns an obscure historical fact into a two-hour research rabbit hole. The kind that hears an interesting story and immediately starts asking, But what if…?

Growing up, Brittany loved classic television, old Hollywood glamour, and anything with a mystery at its center. She stayed up late watching I Love Lucy and Columbo, tried to beat TV detectives to the solution, and developed the mildly annoying habit of predicting plot twists before everyone else in the room.

 

Eventually, she discovered an even better game: being the one who gets to fool everybody else.

 

Today, Brittany writes twisty mysteries and spy adventures for readers who can’t resist following a clue. Her favorite mysteries are the ones that make you absolutely certain you know the answer—right up until you don’t. The clues were there. The solution was possible. You just happened to be looking in exactly the direction she wanted you to look.

 

Sorry about that. (Okay, not particularly sorry.)

 

Curiosity has taken her fictional characters everywhere from Hollywood movie sets and glamorous 1920s parties to small Texas towns and international spy missions. It has taken Brittany down considerably safer rabbit holes involving forgotten history, strange crimes, vintage inventions, Cold War espionage, and whatever fascinating fact she stumbled across when she was supposed to be writing.

 

When she isn’t plotting fictional murders, Brittany can usually be found cheering on the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys, getting far too competitive during family game night, or discussing a television plot hole long after everyone else has moved on.

 

She lives in Palo Pinto County, Texas, with two canine writing companions who remain firmly convinced that sitting beside the computer constitutes meaningful creative input.
