Most career paths start with an interview; in the CIA, it begins with a Blackout Exam. For Samantha and Lizzie Brown, it’s the only thing standing between their trainee status and a life of international intrigue (and hopefully a better dental plan). The catch: they have to go dark. No backup, no handlers, and absolutely no sisterly brainstorming sessions allowed.

While Lizzie is living her best spy life—photographing covert handoffs in a sun-drenched Brazilian soccer stadium—Samantha is stuck in a rainy German forest on a never-ending stakeout, questioning every life choice that led to a thermal underwear requirement. She’s one dead-drop away from a passing grade... until she hops into her extraction car and realizes the driver doesn't have a CIA badge, but he does have a very large gun.

Samantha is officially off the grid and out of time. The exam is no longer about a grade, it’s about not ending up in a shallow grave in the Black Forest. The how could be a problem. She could break the Blackout and call her infuriatingly handsome handler for a rescue, but she’d rather tackle a mercenary than hear his I told you so over a secure line.

Lizzie might be thousands of miles away, but when her Brazilian photo op reveals that the Blackout Exam is actually a hit list, she realizes that the sisters must break every rule in the CIA handbook to save each other.
